Victoria Mac Dermott

From an early age Victoria Mac Dermott has had a deep passion for the countryside and natural world. Victoria’s knowledge and understanding of both domestic and wild animals in all their natural form and movement is wonderfully reflected in her work. With an instinctive 'feel' for an animal's character and in-depth knowledge of its anatomy, she captures the true essence of her subjects and brings them alive. Working in oil, pastels, charcoal and etchings, her style is traditional and figurative, with a talent which sets her apart from most other wildlife artists of today.

Victoria was born in 1972 and was brought up on her parent's farm in Co. Kildare, Ireland. She was educated and attended art college in Dublin, here she specialised in mixed media, but also exhibited in Ireland at that time. Having completed her studies in 1996 she moved to the U.K. to pursue a career, but has since been drawn back to her early passion for painting and turned professional in 2000. In 2002 Victoria married and moved to Devon in England where she now lives on a small farm on the edge of Exmoor with her husband and children surrounded by an array of their animals.

Victoria specialises in European and African wildlife and undertakes many private commissions. Victoria has exhibited in a number of exhibitions in England, Ireland and the U.S. A.
